Sammy Wanjiru - Kenyan Olympic marathon idol dies in fall


Samuel "Sammy" Wanjiru, Kenyan Olympic marathon champion, has died after plunging from a balcony at his home in the Rift Valley town of Nyahururu.

Eric Kiraithe, National police spokesman said it showed he had executed himself. The 24 year old succeeded in Beijing in 2008 in an Olympic testimony time, becoming Kenya's first marathon champion. Last December, he was alleged with bullying to kill his wife, Triza Njeri, attack and the unlawful custody of an AK-47 attack rifle.
Mrs. Njeri consequently removes her allegations, saying they had settled. In spite of this, Mr. Wanjiru was due to appear before a court on 23 May on the blame of unlawful custody of a gun.
The Olympic champion had had a turbulent relationship with his wife, and plung from the balcony of his home following a familial quarrel.
Jasper Ombati, Nyahururu police chief said it started when Mrs. Njeri come back suddenly to come across Mr Wanjiru amusing a female friend, according to the Daily Nation newspaper.
At present the Police are inquiring both women about the happening. Mr. Wanjiru experience inner wounds because of his fall and was marked dead in hospital after tries to revitalize him failed. In Nairobi says some Kenyans citizens consider his family difficulties were associated to his newly obtained capital from prize money.
Kenya has lost a great runner at an unfortunate young age.
