Gunter Sachs - the German-born wealthiest, art collector and ex-husband of Brigitte Bardot - has murdered himself at the age of 78.
Sachs's family said that he gunshot himself at his chalet in the Swiss resort of Gstaad on Saturday.
A grandson of car maker Adam Opel, Sachs' wealth facilitated him to become him a renowned member of the glamorous 1960s "jet set".

Sachs was born in southern Germany and taught in maths and economics. He became a Swiss citizen in 1976. He was a well known photographer and got numerous awards for his documentary films. He was also a keen art collector and had an enthusiastic attention in astrology.
Sachs and Bardot married in Las Vegas in 1966, only some weeks after they first met. The marriage ended immediately over three years.

A spokesman for Bardot's animal rights charity said she "had been learned and was shocked". His first wife, Anne-Marie Faure, died in 1958 the same year his father, Willy Sachs, executed himself. He married ex-Swedish model Mirja Larsson in 1969.
"Gunter Sachs always well aware how to take happiness in life," wrote the Swiss newspaper Neue Zuercher Zeitung.
"Those who familiar him may very well consider that he desired to finish it rapidly to cut short the suffering of old age."
