TalkTalk bids centralized website jamming

Internet contributor TalkTalk is to provide customers the choice of filtering nasty or offensive stuffs out of their broadband service.

The company says it is the first largest ISP to offer centralized blocking at server level. Also blocking malicious software, parents will be able to avoid their children accessing adult material.

Security experts have inquired whether the service will be able to counter fast enough to new risks.

Straight systems for stopping internet content depend on security software installed on users' PCs. TalkTalk's Home Safe runs on the company's central computer system and sits between the web and a person’s home links.

Its anti-virus system operates by scanning a site that somebody desires to visit to look if it ports wicked programs. Those set up to be filter will be put on a "fair list" for 24 hours.
