But it seems as if Alex Rodriguez may have given up on hiding his true feelings for Cameron Diaz.

The New York Yankees slugger was spotted giving his girlfriend of a year an affectionate pat on the bottom yesterday as the couple boarded a boat cruise with friends in Miami, Florida.

As the couple walked side-by-side along the jetty towards the waiting boat, Alex, 35, who is also known as A-Rod, reached behind her and gave her left cheek a squeeze.

Cameron was displaying her long lean legs in a pair of tiny white shorts which she paired with a pretty pink linen shirt and gold aviator sunglasses.

Later she stripped off her clothes and showed off her toned and taut stomach in a tiny white string bikini as she soaked up the sun aboard the boat.

A-Rod was casually dressed in blue shorts and a white T-shirt which he accessorised with a blue baseball cap.

Later in the day the couple were spotted having a low-key evening hitting up a local Whole Foods grocery store where they picked up several bags of food before heading back to A-Rod's star island home.

The pair were falsely rumoured to have split earlier this year, but their relationship is clearly stronger than ever.
