Rihanna: "Man Down" -- Official Music Video

UPDATE:

Rihanna's "murder" video featured above is causing a lot of controversy with the Television Council.

Even though the murder is in response to a rape, they say if Chris Brown would have made a video like this, "he would not get a pass"
s
But......what about songs like "Bohemian Rhapsody" and other violent videos? They are acceptable.

.... Should RiRi get a pass?

Police Can Now Search Our Cell Phones Without A Warrant????

Where did our privacy go?

According to reports, more states are beginning to favor the optionOF being able to search an arrestee’s cell phone...and what's even worse is they are favoring to do it WITHOUT a warrant!

There have been an increasing number of incidents to demonstrate the growing popularity of this policy. For instance, in California, it became legal in January for police to search an arrestee’s cell phone without a warrant; in Florida, an appellate court decision upheld warrantless cell phone searches, defining the phone as a kind of “container;” and in Georgia, there was an appellate court decision to uphold a warrantless search of a cell phone found in an arrestee’s car.

I know you saying to yourself, "What about my privacy?"

Well, Civil rights advocates are fighting back. Catherine Crump of the American Civil Liberties Union says,
“the police can ask you to unlock the phone—which many people will do—but they almost certainly cannot compel you to unlock your phone without the involvement of a judge.”

.....and what if you don't have a cell phone on you?

How do you feel about this?

Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' Debuts With 1.1 Million Copies

You did it Little Monsters! Lady Gaga's sophomore album, Born This Way, topped the Billboard Top 200 after its first week of full sales. Born This Way sold 1,108,000 copies in its first weeks, marking only the 17th album to sell a million in a week since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales data in 1991. It is also the highest sales week since 50 Cent’s The Massacre hits stores in March 2005.
The number was undoubtedly aided by Amazon.com’s decision to sell the digital version of the album for just $.99 on both Monday and Friday of last week. In fact, Billboard reports that as many 662,000 digital copies were sold.

Well This Throws A Wrench Into Things

Surely if you're here and you have the patience to read the header of this blog, you know what the whole point of it all really is. This is a running account of my adventures and journeys to see all 122 teams in the NFL, NHL, MLB and NBA play a home game. The goal is to get it all done by the time I'm 55, and with 41 teams down, I've made some significant progress in my years, but there are still some outstanding issues. I get asked a number of questions about my plans and my adventures and there are two that show up more than any others.

1) If a team builds a new arena, do you have to go see that team again? Yes, I do.

2) What happens if a team moves?

That second one is slightly more complicated. Well, the answer isn't really all that complicated -- yes, I need to see them again -- but for record keeping purposes will I have to assume that there is suddenly 123 teams to keep track of? If I haven't seen that initial franchise, well, I guess not, and it appears I won't have to answer that question just yet, but it appears I may have my first test on question No. 2 today, with the announcement that the True North Sports Group has agreed to a deal to purchase the Atlanta Thrashers. While the franchise is not officially on the move to Winnipeg, Manitoba just yet -- that can't be formally done until the board of governors approves the deal on June 21 -- most parties involved seem to expect that that will be the case from the NHL, to the Atlanta Thrashers, to even the more comically social media savvy players.

So, with a team likely moving to Winnipeg and out of Atlanta, I'm sure the big concern for all of you is, "I wonder what this means for David Kalan." Don't worry, I'm going to tell you. I've thought about this often because earlier this year it appeared painfully obvious that I was going to have to account for a team moving this summer, although I didn't expect it to be a hockey team. Of course, that move wound up not happening, and possibly do to some, uh, outside resistance. But that move wouldn't really have been so bad because a) I've been to Sacramento before and feel no real need to go back, and b) a cluster of three NBA teams in the Los Angeles/Anaheim metropolitan area would have made for a convenient and fun little swing through southern California.

This move is completely different because Winnipeg isn't near, well, anything really, but it does actually excite me somewhat because I now have a reason to go there, and I like being able to see new cities. It is somewhat unfortunate in that had the Thrashers stayed in Atlanta, I have several friends I could stay with whereas I know no one who currently lives in Manitoba. There is the chance however that I could try to tack Winnipeg onto the beginning of a Western Canadian hockey tour that I am planning on doing at some point, one that would take me from Calgary to Edmonton and then to Vancouver via a train that goes through the Canadian Rockies which are supposed to be, you know, gorgeous. It's worth noting of course that Winnipeg is some 824 miles from Calgary, roughly the same distance from New York City to Chicago, so taking it onto that trip could be ill-conceived, but how often am I in Western Canada anyway?

Either way, there is some sadness here for the Atlanta organization and its fans, though I suppose they'll always have a memory of Dustin Byfuglien lifting the Cup in his Thrashers jersey after being traded by the Blackhawks last summer, or Lil Jon dining with it. Byfuglien, incidentally, hails from Roseau, Minnesota, which is just 116 miles or so from Winnipeg.

So, in the end, with this news breaking it looks as though I'll have to add Winnipeg's MTS Centre onto my list of arenas, which given what it looks like, actually should be pretty cool when I finally get there, though it will be interesting to see a game there if, for no other reason, it only holds a little more than 15,000 people. And if I do manage to put Winnipeg onto my Western Canadian hockey swing, it will be particularly fun to go through each city and see the differences before winding up ultimately in Vancouver, which, if none of you have noticed, is also in the hockey news these days because it's hosting Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final.

And it's hosting it tomorrow.

Yeah, the Stanley Cup Final, one of my all-time favorite things to watch or experience kicks off between the Canucks and Bruins Wednesday night, and while some mediocre sportswriter is giving you the ins and outs of some meaningless statistics, fan-related angst and video game predictions, there really is nothing quite like just sitting down and watching the game. Personally, I'm of the mindset that Vancouver is just too good and will take the series in six games, but Boston is certainly no slouch of a team after pulling off a gutsy Game 7 win over Tampa Bay in the Eastern Conference Finals Friday night.

If nothing else a good, hard series between these two will be a great distraction from the messiness of Mets land, where, despite two wins in a row now, things have kind of gotten sticky due to some comments from the man in charge right around when he's selling a chunk of the team to a guy that, despite his great name, could probably use a little better fashion sense when he's playing poker. Many are hoping David Einhorn will stick around long enough to get majority ownership and end the Wilpon regime, or at least long enough to continue the flood of Ace Ventura jokes.

Another particularly awesome aspect of the whole thing is that if Vancouver finally wins its first Stanley Cup, it will likely do so in large part due to the efforts of Ryan Kesler and Henrik and Daniel Sedin. The upshot of that, is that Canada will finally get its vaunted Cup back for the first time in 18 years, but doing so would require the charge being led by an American and two Swedes.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they'd be plenty happy and the Canucks roster is still made up of a vast majority of Canadians, but relying on the Americans to get your achievement would still be pretty fun -- almost as fun as knowing that Qatar, which famously and quite possibly corruptly beat the U.S. for the right to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup, is doing so largely on the basis of ideas that are not just being stolen from America, but being stolen from American television. That's right. Qatar's plan to block out the sun during its insanely hot summers is essentially lifted from The Simpsons, which on a side note, after re-watching this episode from the "Who Shot Mr. Burns" Saga, I am still convinced was the greatest show in history in its prime.

So yeah, I'm excited about the Stanley Cup Final. I hope you are, too.

White Sox @ Red Sox Preview

The Red Sox have lost 2 in a row, and the White Sox seem to have their number winning for the 11th time in 13 matchups against Boston. If only they could have that kind of success against the rest of the MLB, as the Sox are having a terrible year (25-31).

Alfredo Aceves takes the hill for the Red Sox, and he has been a nice surprise. In his two starts this season he has gone a total of 11 innings allowing only 2 runs. You can't ask for much more out of him, and hopefully he can keep it up tonight. On paper the White Sox should have a very good lineup. I still think they are really good even with Dunn being the worst player ever. Aceves could run into trouble as their is a ton of power throughout this lineup.

Phil Humber has been one of the biggest surprised of the season. He is is 2-1 with a 2.16 ERA in his last six starts, and is basically going to take Danks spot in the rotation. I haven't taken him seriously all season, but I am actually very interested to watch him pitch tonight. It's hard to argue with the numbers he has been putting up, but if the Red Sox are hitting on all cylinders it really doesn't matter who is on the mound.

Red Sox win 7-6
Player of the Game: Ortiz
Game starts at 7:10pm

Sean Kingston's Female Passenger Says He Was Driving REALLY Fast!

Sean Kingston was in a serious accident on his Jet Ski over the Memorial Weekend and his female passenger says Sean was driving "REALLY fast" when they crashed into a bridge ... and insists she begged him to slow down before the accident.

Cassandra Sanchez says she arrived to Miami Beach with another female friend to ride jet skis with Sean and his buddy on Saturday evening.

Cassandra said,
"Both jet skis pulled out of the dock at the same time and we were going so fast we just blasted past them. When we turned a corner and crashed ... they were so far behind us they didn't even see us crash."

As Sean was racing towards the bridge, she says that she screamed out,
"We can't fit under there! Are we going to try and go under there? Sean stop!"
She believes Sean tried to turn away from the bridge at the last minute ... and
lost control because they were going "REALLY fast."

The next thing Cassandra remembers is waking up in the water in pain. She says her friends on the other jet ski raced over and tried to help out ... with Sean's buddy trying to position the injured singer so he wouldn't swallow any more water. They all signaled for help until a boat came to the scene to help out.

She says,
"[Sean] was coughing up blood, foam and pink stuff"
... and when he finally opened his eyes, he kept repeating the words,

"I'm hurting. I'm hurting"

Cassandra says her ribs and her jaw are still sore -- but overall, she's OK.

As for Sean, she says
"They have a tube down his throat so he can't really talk, but he is lucid and understands what's going on."
Cassandra says doctors plan to keep Sean in the hospital for "a couple more weeks."

UPDATE:

Sean Kingston is expected to make a full recovery. He suffered a broken jaw, fractured wrist and water in his lungs, according to the sources, who both asked not to be identified... since they were not authorized to speak to the media.

Cassandra Sanchez, Sean's Passenger, says she will not be pressing charges...
"I know this whole thing was just an accident. I won't be pressing any type of charges or hiring a lawyer. Sean is a good guy."
"I am going to be visiting him in the hospital at some point soon and hope he has a speedy recovery."

Adam Dunn Is A Bust

There was a lot made of Crawford's struggles, yet a guy that hasn't got hammered as much as he probably should is Adam Dunn. Coming into the year I thought this guy was a lock for 40+ HRs, and we going to make the White Sox offense one of the best in the league. Yet, he hasn't even come close.

As of today Dunn is batting an anemic .181 with only five home runs scattered amongst 69 strikeouts, and it's not like it's getting any better as he 2-for-22 with 11 strikeouts and one home run in his last 7 games. I have been thinking that eventually he would turn it on, but tomorrow is June 1st, and I have seen nothing that makes me think he is going to turn it around.

Maybe it's just being part of the White Sox, as that entire team is just one giant disappointment. Danks is still winless and might be losing his spot in the rotation, the bullpen is horrid, and as of today the White Sox are 8 1/2 games back on the Indians for first place in the AL Central. That's pretty bad for one of the teams I thought would be challenging for best record in the AL. You have to wonder how much longer Guillen will keep his job.

NHL Back In Winnipeg

"True North Sports and Entertainment has completed its deal to purchase the NHL's Atlanta Thrashers, clearing the way to move them to Winnipeg, a source tells ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun. True North has scheduled a news conference for noon ET on Tuesday at MTS Centre in Winnipeg, at which a "significant community announcement" will be made (ESPN)."

We have been hearing these rumors for awhile now, and it seems the deal is finally done. I am glad this is happening. Atlanta should never have had a team, and I think there should be more teams in Canada, because they actually care about hockey. Saying that, I still think the best thing for the NHL would be to lower the number of teams, so that they should have a better product to put on the ice. I also think they should shorten the season, because there is really no reason to be playing hockey in June.

Howard Staying In Orlando?

"I want to start my own path and I want people to follow my path and not just follow somebody else's path. I want to have my own path, and I want to start that here in Orlando. But I can't do it alone. Not only do I need the right teammates, but I need the city behind me. That's the only way it's going to get done. We can change this small city that we have — this small market that we have and we can make it a big market."

"As of right now, I'm a part of the Orlando Magic and I plan to be here," Howard said (CBS Sports).

I am not buying it. The Magic are in a ton of cap trouble, and aren't even close to being a team challenging for an NBA title. My guess is that they have a terrible season next year (6 or 7 seed), and Howard finally has enough and moves on. There are just such better franchises out there that are going to have the cap room to make the changes Howard is looking for. Eventually he'll get sick of the "small market" and want to go somewhere that he can be even more well known (LA, Boston, New York, ect).

Paul Scholes announces ‘retirement’ and plays a Coaching role in future

After a Manchester United first-team profession straddling 17 years and 676manifestations, Paul Scholes has declared his retirement instantly.

There had been rumours about the 36-year-old's future in the previous some weeks after he became more and more discontented with his bit-part role, and he will now start a coaching profession at Old Trafford from next term.

The renowned shy midfielder said: "I am not a man of several words but I can sincerely say that playing football is all I have ever desired to do. To have had such a lengthy and winning career at Manchester United has been a real admiration. To have been part of the team that assisted the club touch a record 19th title is a significant dispensation.

This was not a choice I have taken slightly but I think now is the exact time for me to quit from football grounds. I would like to thank the fans for their marvelous support in my entire career. I would also like to thank all the coaches and colleagues players that I have worked with over the years.

Especially I would like to thank your Sir Alex Ferguson for being such a great manager since the day I associated the club his door has for all the time been open and I consider this team will move forward to obtain several more trophies under his leadership. A member of the famous class of '92, who succeeded the FA Youth Cup, Scholes made his entrance in 1994, and his last game was Saturday's Champions League ultimate overwhelm to Barcelona. He won 10 Premier League titles and, after missing the 1999 Champions League final through postponement, was part of the team that defeat Chelsea in the Moscow final of 2008.

Ferguson said, what further can I say about Paul Scholes that I haven't said before?  We are going to miss a really incredible player. Paul has forever been completely loyal to this club and I am pleased he will be joining the coaching professionals. Paul has always been rousing to players of every class and we consider that will continue."Scholes's specific role within the united coaching group has still to be completed, though there could be a breaching on hand with the assets, where Warren Joyce has been acting alone since the exit of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The former England international will also be settled a tribute, which will held in August.

Wayne Rooney said Scholes is the tremendous player he has still played with. "He will be missed largely," Rooney said. "He is absolutely the good player I have played with. I endeavor to ask him what he was doing but you don't find much out of him.

A Bangladeshi man deprived of from his Penis by a woman

According to Bangladesh Police a woman bring to an end a man's penis during a suspected effort to rape her and took it to a police station as a proof.

The incident happened in Mirzapur village, Jhalakathi, about 200km (124 miles) south of the capital, Dhaka.

Monju Begum 40, a mother of three children told the police that her neighbor Mozammel Haq Mazi forced his way into her shanty and began attacking her.

Mr. Mazi, who rejects the allegations, has been admitted to a close by hospital.

Police spokesman Abul Khaer has said, we will hold him once his condition gets improve.
"She said she fought back and cut off his penis and fetched it to the police station in a polythene bag to show that Mr. Mazi attempted to rape her. The police spokesman said, she has registered a case blaming him of attempted rape," he said.

"It is rather an unexpected incident. As much as I am attentive, this is the first time that a woman has brought a cut off penis to the police station as proof. Monju Begum told police that Mr. Mazi, a married father of five, had been distressing her for the last six months.

On the other hand Mr. Mazi rejected the blames.

We were having a love affair and in the recent times she proposed that both of us can go and quite down in Dhaka, Mr. Mazi told from the hospital in close by Barisal. "I denied and told her that I cannot go away from my wife and children, so she took revenge on me."

Prof AMSM Sharfuzzaman, a senior surgeon at the Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital in Barisal town, told that it had not been possible to reconnect the organ.

Police brought his cut off penis many hours after the incident," he said. We are treating him so that he can urinate generally without the penis."

A new Twitter user posts latest list of super-injuctions

A new Twitter user has candidly disobeyed the courts by posting the details of 13 suspected super-injunctions.

Very soon after the US based company caved into a lawful defy and decided to release the personal features of an unidentified British Blogger, a user teased the authorities by publishing the most thorough list of gagging orders yet. The catalogue, which showed on Twitter, comprised links to court papers as well as full names and even addresses of some people contributed injunctions. But not all of the information comes out to be correct on time more worries that guiltless people were being wrongly tainted because of the rash of secrecy orders being allowed. As large numbers of followers began viewing the site the information was abruptly disappeared, but not before the names had started to flow largely on other websites.

At the weekend California based Twitter, settled to give up the features of an account holders in an offer to expose a person who had been publishing purportedly unfounded remarks about authorities at South Tyneside Council. The attractive case has potentially far getting implications for Twitter users who have used the site secretly to violate injunctions. Previous this month lawyers acting for the Manchester United footballer Ryan Giggs subjected a writ challenging Twitter appear the details of a user who named their consumer as having taken out an injunction to conceal a so-called extramarital affair with Imogen Thomas, a past reality television star.

Everybody intentionally breaking a court injunction by identification an individual could be traced in disapproval of court and fined or even imprisoned. But with million of internet users overlooking the warnings, injunctions are becoming more and more hard to impose. Liberal Democrat MP John Hemming has also said he will utilize parliamentary right to name any celebrities with injunctions who warn to indict those who disclose their identities.

He said superstars should not be permitted to “wear away British culture” by bullying to have people imprisoned for simply “rumoring about them”

It's Cool To Watch The Transformation Of The Royals

With Aaron Crow taking The Mexicutioner aka Joakim Soria's spot closing games for the Royals, it's real cool watching the youth movement going on in KC. Earlier this year they brought up highly touted prospect Eric Hosmer who has been killing it so far with 5 home runs and 15 rbi in 95 abs, and then they brought up one of their many top pitching prospects Danny Duffy who has been a pleasant surprise and now that Aaron Crow is taking a prominent role in the bullpen the transformation is happening.

Mike Moustakas their 3rd base prospect is waiting in triple A and their stud pitcher Mike Montgomry is their ready down in the minors too. It is real cool to see a team transform this way rather than the Red Sox/ Yankees way of just buying a team. I don't know if this will make the Royals a contender or not, but it's still cool.

Jim Tressel Retires

You know what, good! He needed too, there was obviously too much controversy surrounding he and Ohio State now a days. He was already being suspended for 5 games, along with star QB Terrell Pryor and 4 other players due to a memorabilia for tattoo exchange in Columbus.

There is no real defense for Jim Tressel as he was warned about what his players were up to and chose to ignore it. He knew if those e-mails got out those players would have been suspended for the post season, so it would have been tough for him to win.

The 58-year-old Tressel had a record of 106-22-0 at Ohio State. He led the Buckeyes to eight Bowl Championship Series games in his 10 years. Combined with a 135-57-2 record in 15 years at Youngstown State, where he won four Division I-AA national championships, Tressel's career mark was 241-79-2.

A theory of mine is that Ohio State is about to get in a lot more trouble soon and Tressel knew that and decided to walk away before shit hits the fan. And there are going to be paralyzing sanctions to the program.

Ohio State and the NCAA has started a separate investigation on QB Terrelle Pryor.

7 White Sox, 3 Red Sox

5.2 innings 8 hits 7 runs 1 homer 4 walks and struck out 4, that was Jon Lester's number. I guess he wasn't out of the little funk he was in over the past couple of weeks and now is 7-2 and a 3.94 era.

Paul Konerko was able to establish his dominance against Lester with another hr off of him. For the Sox the lone bright spot would be that Adrian Gonzalez hit a hr to make his total in double digits.

The Red Sox had a tough time with runners in scoring position and didn't have many, as they went 1-for-6 on the evening

Box Score

Bruins 1, Lightning 0

Surreal (adjective): Having the disorienting, hallucinatory quality of a dream; unreal; fantastic.

When the puck grazed against the blade of Nathan Horton's stick, and softly slid into the net, all the theories, all the "what-ifs" came into focus as reality. What I mean is, after years of wondering what it would be like to watch the Bruins in the Stanley Cup Finals, it's all become real. And the reality of it is so surreal.

Up until that goal, my nerves were frayed and tattered. There seemed to be some invisible force working against the Bruins. Brad Marchand came within millimeters here and there of a hat-trick in the 3rd period. The Bruins were playing the better game, but pucks weren't going in. They weren't even getting to the net.

Then the puck went in. It wasn't a magnificent play. It was just smart. Smart entry by the Bruins against Tampa's 1-3-1. Ference waited until he was close to center-ice and challenged by Tampa's frontman in the 1-3-1. Both Krejci and Horton were on the far-side boards. This was a 2-on-1 for the Bruins caused by the shape Tampa's formation. Two men attacking the area guarded by one. Krejci entered the zone with the puck, and was engaged by the final man or "strong safety" of the 1-3-1. As Krejci carried straight toward the corner, Horton cut inward to the net. Through the slimmest of lanes, Krejci passed to Horton.

It wasn't ingenious. It wasn't that tricky. It was smart. It was executed well. And it took advantage of minor mistakes made by Tampa's defenders. Horton was allowed to get position, Krejci was allowed entry without any harassment. In short, the Bruins couldn't have done better on the play, the Lightning could have done slightly better. And that's hockey. The difference between two teams in a 7 game series can be the fraction of a second that Krejci's pass window was open.

And for the next 7 and a half minutes, I was supremely confident. The game was over. If I were Red Auerbach, I would've lit a cigar. I was more confident in that 1-0 lead than I've ever been with any 3 goal lead the Bruins have ever had. After going up, they played even better. They kept attacking, kept fore-checking. They valued possession of the puck, made Tampa Bay fight to win it back, made the Lightning carry it 200 feet each time. It was a thing of beauty.

None of the Bruins had amazing individual nights. And that's why I enjoyed their effort so much. Thomas didn't have to stand on his head. Chara didn't have to throw people around all night. Seguin didn't need to break anyone's ankles. Everyone did their job. Everyone played well. Horton wound up with the goal, Krejci and Ference with the assists, and Thomas with a shutout, but no superhuman individual feats were necessary to win. The whole team showed up, guys like Peverley, Ference, and McQuaid were just as important as Krejci, Chara, and Seidenberg.

And it was also nice that the refs didn't call any penalties. Keeping the game 5-on-5 was a huge edge for the Bruins.

And now, for the 18th time, the Bruins are in the Stanley Cup finals. It's surreal how real this dream feels.

Game 1 Wednesday night in Vancouver.

Sean Kingston "Stabilized" After Jet Ski Crash (UPDATES)

Singer, Sean Kingston had the town talking last night when he crashed into a bridge while riding on a Jet Ski in Miami.... landing himself in critical condition!

Since last night, Kingston has been "stabilized" and is in the trauma ward of a Miami hospital.

His publicist sent the following statement on Kingston's upgraded conditiong:
"Sean Kingston is now stabilized and has moved from the trauma unit to ICU. Sean's family thanks everyone for their prayers and support during this time."
Kingston crashed on the Jet Ski with a female passenger, but no word on her condition yet.

Kingston (real name: Kisean Anderson) was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital yesterday after he and a female passenger aboard his personal watercraft crashed into the Palm Island Bridge around 6:00 p.m. EST. A boater rescued the pair from the water, and Miami Fire Rescue crews brought the singer and passenger to the hospital.

A representative for Jackson Memorial Hospital confirmed to Billboard.com on Sunday that the 21-year-old pop star was in the Ryder Trauma Center. No details regarding his injuries have been released.

Kingston's hospitalization resulted in a outpouring of support by both his fans and peers on Twitter. The hashtag #prayforseankingston has been a top trending topic since news of the accident spread, while artists including Bieber, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown have tweeted messages for the singer.

"Got my friend @seankingston in my prayers tonight,"

UPDATE:

Alcohol was NOT a factor in the jet ski accident that left Sean Kingston in critical condition ... this according to a report released by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

The guy who heroically jumped into the water to save Sean Kingston says the singer was spitting up blood after his jet ski accident last night -- but that Sean was responsive and even spoke during the rescue.

Jonathan Rivera, a member of the Coast Guard, says he was driving his boat around Star Island on his day off ... when he was called over to the accident scene by a man and a woman on a jet ski. Rivera says he noticed an empty jet ski, a woman in the water floating (she was wearing a vest and complaining her head hurt) and Kingston.

Rivera says the two people on the jet ski were trying to hold Kingston up, but they were struggling to keep his head above water. Rivera says Kingston's size was a problem for them, as his life vest had come off.

So Rivera says he jumped in the water and noticed Kingston was "puking up blood out of his mouth."

Rivera says he wrapped his arms around Kingston and held on to the jet ski to help keep Kingston's head above water. Rivera said Kingston was
"convulsing and throwing up blood all over me"
-- but said he didn't notice any head trauma.

Rivera tells us he held onto Kingston for about 15 minutes, until a police boat finally arrived. Rivera says he doesn't think he could have held on much longer than he did.

The other passenger, a 23-year-old female, was listed as being "uninjured."

Policies say a lot about Honda

It is very good news that Honda expects all its North American operations to be back to full speed by August and that includes its Lincoln plant where three of its most popular vehicles are assembled.

The March earthquake and tsunami in Japan severely hampered Honda’s supply chain and ended up costing the giant automaker months of production as it faced difficult and at times insurmountable obstacles to getting supplies from Japan to North America.

Without those supplies, cars could not be built.

As time passed, the supply chain opened up a bit, and then a little more. But not too long ago Honda officials (along with other Japanese automakers) were expecting a late fall date for full production to resume.

Last week, however, the company announced it wouldn’t take that long.“Honda will increase production volume at its North America automobile plants to a rate of 100 percent original production plan in August,” a company press release announced.

Honda’s employees in Lincoln met the news with enthusiasm.

“Today we announced to our associates in plant-wide meetings that we are planning to accelerate recovery of our production. …” said Mark Morrison, a company spokesman. “When we announced that the Odyssey and Pilot would reach 100 percent of their original production plan in August, our associates greeted the news with great applause,” he said.

That kind of reaction is what you would expect from Honda employees. The 4,000 people who work in the local plant are intensely loyal and, based on the plant’s expansion since opening, also are very productive.

That loyalty and productivity have been rewarded with a unique approach to the forced slowdown in production. Rather than lay off workers, Honda allowed them to work on maintenance chores, or to take earned vacation time to keep their paychecks coming. And after the April 27 tornadoes ripped through our area, Honda allowed its employees to take two days per week to volunteer at cleanup activities while getting paid as though they were at work.

Those policies say a lot about Honda and the kind of company it is. And they say a lot about Honda’s employees and the kind of people they are.

Honda made it through this parts crisis without laying off a single employee in their North American plants, the company said. Now that they are ready to ramp up production again, those employees are available and their morale should be high, since no one had to do with a reduced paycheck during the difficult times.

The Japanese automaker obviously enjoys great economic strength to be able to weather such a crisis without cutting employee paychecks. We commend Honda for its approach, we continue to wish the company a long and prosperous future in Lincoln and the rest of its North America plants.

Keeping away from ‘Sex’ Butterflies close wings

In the passing life of a female small copper butterfly, sex is on one occasion affair.

The scientists of Japan have viewed that the butterflies have an easiest way to keep away from the unnecessary concentration of unrelenting males; they close their wings.
By flopping away their vivid, outstanding wing outlines, the females make themselves fewer observable to males.
The scientists explain their results in the journal Ethology.
The head researcher and butterfly lover Jun-Ya Ide from the Kurume Institute of Technology in Fukuoka, had perceived that female small copper butterflies often blocked their wings when other copper butterflies taken off nearer to them.
"I also evaluate that she closed the wings at a lesser rate when other butterfly species flew nearby," said Dr. Ide and he place about attempting to discover why this might be.
"Constant buddy efforts" from males can injure the flimsy females, so Dr. Ide considered the females might close their wings as an irritation avoidance plan.
"He utilized a model of a male copper butterfly to prompt response in the females.
"When I considered the model close to a friend female, she habitually closed the wings.
Virgin females, on the contrary, left their arms open.
Dr Ide said, I resulted that, since females don't required further copulations, they close their wings to hide themselves.
While virgin females that desire to mate "keep their wings open to be eye-catching".
"The wing closing behavior has developed," he said, "to pass up sexual harassment."
