He was offender at an initial hearing of raping a member staff in the 1990s when he was tourism minister, and of later sexual offences while he was president.
The woman who is a victim of rape told the court that Moshe Katsav had first attacked at the tourism’s ministry office then in a hotel of Jerusalem.
Moshe Katsav had resigned from the broader official post of president in 2007. Primarily he had agreed with prosecutors to appeal guilty to sexual misbehavior, keeping away from more serious charges. But later on he pulling out the agreement, and refused the rape charges.
The judges told to Mr. Katsav who will be the first imprisoned head of the state, that no one is superior against the law. However his lawyers told that he would not go to jail right away because the court had allowed a 30 days grace period to submit an appeal.
