A colossal earthquake has punched to the north-east of Japan , prompted a tsunami that has caused a huge devastation.
Japanese TV has showed footage of cars, ships, heavy building cleared away by a biggest wall of water after 8.9 magnitude earthquake. It hit about 250 miles (400km) from the capital at a deepness of 20 miles and the dominant after shocks are continued. The quiver hit at 14:46 local time (0546 GMT). Seismologists called it as one of the enormous earthquakes to hit Japan for the past several years.
The fire broken out due severe earthquake in different parts of Japan including Tokyo and it has been expected a fear to be of a large numbers of deaths. An oil refinery is also damaged by the fire in Ichihara city in Chiba area near Tokyo , overwhelming storage tanks.
Tsunami waves hit Japan 's Miyagi and Fukushima territories, officials said, destroying dozens of coastal communities. The tsunami forecasting was expanded to the Philippines , Indonesia , Taiwan , the Pacific coast of Russia and Hawaii . The Tsunami Warning Center of Pacific said the wave could expand as far as Chile . Tsunami waves hit Japan 's Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures, officials said, damaging dozens of coastal communities.
Most of the people and workers are trying very hard to come out from their apartments, offices, factories and reaching into the gardens and open spaces. In the middle of Tokyo , Jeffrey Balanag said he was hit in his office in the Shiodome Sumitomo building because the cranes had stopped working. He said there's no worry but we're more or less nauseous from the steady undulating of the building.
Vehicles could be shown striving to speed away from the wall of water. Farmland around the coastal city of Sendai was sunken and the waves pushed cars crossways the landing strip of the city's airport.
At least 20 people have been wounded in Tokyo due to collapsing a roof during graduation ceremony. Many people in Tokyo said they had never felt such a powerful earthquake.
In Tokyo the bullet train service and quick transit have been closed down besides some nuclear power plants mechanically suspended.
